After
nearly a year of creative effort, seventy three cases of beer, and
over twenty six gallons of rum, it's
finally here - a new collection of songs from John Corning, one of the
founding members of
the Free Hot Lunch band. I Forgot What I Was Drinking To Forget
is John's first solo album, featuring many tunes originally
debuted with the band, plus some new numbers you may have never heard before.
"Just like life, this album is all about sex and alcohol - but hey,
it works for me," says Corning, defending his
decision to record an album completely devoid of socially redeemable
content, "and don't forget, there is that one song about Yo-Yo
Ma."
Jeff Berg and Jeff Laramie help JC out on three familiar songs: You're Eating For
Two Now, Lingerie, and Wouldn't You Like To Be An
Alcoholic. Randy Sabien plays fiddle on I Forgot What I
Was Drinking To Forget and The Man Who Stole My Baby Away
From Me. John also recruited his sister Kathy Mueller
to sing on Mental Vacation, and his dazzling wife Katie
sings on
Yo Yo Ma.
This could be a whole lot of fun.
